Who We Are
Dr. Kristin L.H. McGue is a licensed psychologist who has dedicated her practice to children, adolescents, and their families. She earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology from San Francisco State University and went on to earn her master’s and doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology from Howard University. Dr. McGue completed her internship and two years of postdoctoral fellowship with the Kennedy Krieger Institute/Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. After completing her fellowship, she joined the staff and directed the Postdoctoral Fellowship and one of the Institute’s outpatient clinics. Dr. McGue has since been practicing in New Jersey, where she continues to work collaboratively with clients to use their individual and family strengths to make desired change, build resilience, and live a more fulfilling life.
Dr. McGue has extensive experience treating a range of mental health disorders and behavioral concerns including depression/mood disorders, self-harm behaviors, anxiety, posttraumatic stress reactions, and ADHD. She further works with clients and their families to address the parent-child relationship, noncompliance, interpersonal conflict, social skills, low self-esteem, underachievement, problem school behavior, and management of life stressors. Dr. McGue’s therapeutic approach incorporates techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and strengths-based, family-centered models to support effective communication and adaptive behavior.
Collette Huffman is the friendly voice on the other end of the phone when you call LiveWell Behavioral Health Center. As LiveWell Behavioral Health Center’s Care Coordinator, Collette handles client phone calls and emails, scheduling, and other administrative needs such as documents and billing, and scheduling consultation calls with your therapist when needed to discuss clinical matters outside of session time.
Collette is a Mental Health Virtual Assistant, who has spent ten years working in both the medical and mental health communities. She is a very client-centered, compassionate, detail-oriented, and organized person.
When not working, Collette is a wife and mother of four beautiful children, two sons, and two bonus daughters. Collette enjoys spending time with her family, hobby farming/homesteading, and spending time in nature; especially being on the river and in the forest.
At LiveWell BHC, you will be working with a skilled therapist who is well-trained in providing psychotherapeutic treatment across a wide-range of mental health concerns, diagnostic assessment, and recommendations for care. Your therapist will work with you to evaluate care throughout treatment to ensure you are achieving desired change.
We believe that fully understanding the client, the client’s concerns, and contextual factors is an integral part of developing a unique and effective therapeutic experience. We also work to incorporate the family throughout the treatment process whenever appropriate to support sustained change. Your therapist will also work with other professionals including teachers, doctors, psychiatrists, and others as needed to facilitate comprehensive care.
Our primary treatment approaches include traditional cognitive behavioral therapy and values-based cognitive behavioral therapy models
